Training the Next Generation: Abraham’s Start in Fire & Security

A post by Skills for Security.

The fire and security industry continues to grow rapidly, with an increasing demand for skilled engineers. At Skills for Security, we’re proud to play a key role in closing the skills gap by training and supporting the next generation of professionals entering the industry.

Meet Abraham

We recently caught up with Abraham, one of our latest Block 1 fire and security apprentices, to hear about his journey into the industry and his experience so far:

“I chose to get into the fire & security industry because I liked the idea of a practical, hands-on role. What appealed to me most was the chance to earn whilst I learn and work towards a qualification.

So far, it’s been a great experience. I’ve been out on site shadowing an engineer and my first week at college has given me the opportunity to get involved in the practical side of things.

Even though I’ve only just started, I’m really excited about the journey ahead and what I’ll achieve by the end of the course.”

A Positive Start to Training

Abraham’s tutor, Tom Ridgway, shared some great feedback on how he’s settled into his first week of training:

Abraham started the week quietly, but as he got to know his peers, his confidence and positive attitude came out. He attempted all tasks with eagerness and quickly showed his practical capabilities.”

It’s great to see learners like Abraham growing in confidence so early in their journey and showing such enthusiasm for hands-on learning.

Shaping the Future of Fire & Security

We’re proud to support ambitious apprentices like Abraham as they grow and develop in the fire and security industry. Seeing the continuous progress our apprentices make is incredible and we’re excited to see what Abraham will achieve in his journey.

By supporting apprentices through their learning, we’re helping to create a more skilled future, raise awareness of the industry, and close the skills gap.
