Support the planning and delivery of fire and security projects, ensuring work is completed on time and within budget.
Coordinate engineers, subcontractors, suppliers and customers throughout project lifecycles.
Monitor project progress and maintain accurate documentation, reports and schedules.
Identify and manage project risks, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations and customer requirements.
Develop strong stakeholder management skills, communicating effectively with clients, colleagues and external partners.

The apprenticeship typically lasts up to 18 months followed by an End-Point Assessment (EPA). Learning will be delivered through a blended model of live online group sessions, self-guided study and regular 1:1 coaching sessions with an experienced tutor.

Throughout the programme, apprentices will apply project management principles to real workplace projects, building a portfolio of evidence aligned to the fire and security sector.

To successfully complete the apprenticeship, apprentices will:

Your Apprenticeship Journey Starts Here

Years 1 - 2

Develop core project management skills while supporting the delivery of fire and security projects. Coordinate project activities, manage documentation, communicate with stakeholders and learn how successful system installations and upgrades are delivered from start to finish.

Years 3 - 4

Take responsibility for coordinating installation and maintenance projects, scheduling resources, monitoring budgets and supporting customer communications. Work closely with engineers, suppliers and clients to ensure projects are delivered successfully.

Year 5

Lead fire and security projects from initiation through to completion. Manage budgets, resources, timescales and stakeholder expectations while ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.

Year 6+

Oversee multiple projects, lead project teams and contribute to strategic business objectives. Support organisational growth, improve project delivery performance and help shape the future direction of fire and security operations.

Hiring an Apprentice Begins Here

This timeline shows an example of how an apprentice can develop and contribute to your business over time. Every apprentice's journey is different and progression will vary by individual and organisation.

Months 0 - 1

Recruit and integrate your apprentice into your project delivery team with a structured introduction to your business, project processes, compliance requirements and customer expectations. They will begin developing an understanding of project lifecycles, stakeholder management, resource planning and the delivery of fire and security solutions.

Months 4 - 12

Your apprentice starts contributing to live projects by coordinating schedules, maintaining project documentation, communicating with customers and suppliers, and supporting engineers and project managers. They help improve project visibility, maintain accurate records and ensure key milestones are tracked effectively.

Year 2

Apprentices take on greater ownership of project activities, supporting resource allocation, budget monitoring, risk management and stakeholder communications. They begin identifying efficiencies, helping resolve project challenges and contributing to the successful delivery of CCTV, access control, intruder alarm and fire system projects before completing their End-Point Assessment.

Years 3 - 4

Your employee develops into a confident project professional, capable of coordinating multiple projects, managing stakeholder expectations and supporting commercial objectives. They become a vital link between customers, engineers, suppliers and operational teams, helping ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Year 5
